  • Yes to the Government’s spring amending budget 2025

    The Riksdag has voted in favour of the Government’s proposals in the spring amending budget concerning changes in state expenditure during 2025. The decision means that the allocated funds will increase by SEK 7.2 billion.

    The current Social Services Act will be replaced by a new Social Services Act. The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government’s proposal on this matter. The Riksdag also voted in favour of amendments to other laws as a consequence of the new Social Services Act.

  • Tougher approach to sexual violations, fraud targeting the elderly and gender-based offences

    The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government’s proposals for amendments to the Swedish Criminal Code. For example, criminal responsibility for rape of children and the purchase of sexual acts carried out remotely will be criminalised.

  • Scale of penalties raised for threats and violence against public sector employees

    The protection of public sector employees against, among other things, threats and violence will be increased. The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government’s proposal on this matter.

  • More people to be protected by non-contact orders

    The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government’s proposal for new rules on non-contact orders, which will give greater protection to vulnerable people.

  • Yes to fewer AP funds and more stringent skills requirements for boards

    The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government’s proposal for amendments to the management of buffer capital in the funds in the national pension system (AP funds).

  • White paper on European Defence Preparedness examined

    The Riksdag has examined the EU’s White Paper on European Defence Preparedness 2030. The purpose of the White Paper is to strengthen the EU’s defence capabilities, including focusing on support to Ukraine and funding of defence.

  • Shore protection rules to be relaxed

    The Riksdag has voted in favour of the Government’s proposal, which will enable a number of relaxations in rules governing shore protection.

  • New rules on advance payment of mortgages to be introduced

    The Riksdag has voted in favour of a new model for calculation of early repayment charges in connection with advance payment of fixed mortgages. An early repayment charge is the sum a borrower needs to pay to their bank when a fixed-rate loan is redeemed in advance.

    On 11–12 May, the Speaker Andreas Norlén will participate in a conference that gathers Speakers from the EU national parliaments, the European Parliament and candidate countries.

  • Members of the Riksdag observe elections in Albania

    Parliamentary elections will be held in Albania on 11 May. Nine members of the Riksdag are included in an international delegation that will observe the elections. A Swedish member will lead the official mission in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

  • Additional amending budget for 2025 – temporarily raised subsidy rate for tax credits on home repairs, conversion and extension

    The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government’s proposal to raise the subsidy rate for tax credits on home repairs, conversion and extension from 30 per cent to 50 per cent. The increase will apply between 12 May and 31 December 2025.
