Continued support for Ukraine heads the agenda at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly spring session

The spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania on 29 May–1 June. Two members of the Riksdag delegation will participate in the session. 

In total, some 400 members of parliament from NATO's member countries and partner countries will meet at the annual spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly which is taking place in Vilnius, Lithuania. In addition to continued support to Ukraine, the session will highlight the importance of protecting critical infrastructure systems and democratic institutions from hybrid attacks. The capabilities of the defence industry and member countries’ investments in technological development will also be discussed.

The members of the Riksdag delegation will participate in committee meetings, thematic discussions and will vote on proposals for joint statements. No legally binding decisions are taken at the session.

Background

The NATO Parliamentary Assembly is a forum for members of parliament from the NATO member countries which are 32 in number, since Sweden became a member in March 2024. The Assembly meets at two annual sessions. Activities take place at plenary meetings and in the five committees.
