    The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government’s proposal that the principle of public access to official documents be introduced for independent pre-schools, independent schools and independent out-of-school centres.

  • Constitutional right to abortion and increased opportunities to limit freedom of association and right to citizenship

    The Government proposes, among other things, that the right to adoption be introduced to the Instrument of Government as a new fundamental right and freedom. The Riksdag has voted in favour of adopting the Government’s proposed amendments to the Instrument of Government, pending a second decision.

    The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government’s proposal for a private rental law with amendments to, for example, the Land Code and the Tenant-Ownership Act.

  • Qualification requirements to be introduced for certain social insurance benefits

    The Riksdag has voted in favour of the Government’s proposal to introduce qualification requirements for certain residence-based social insurance benefits. Examples of such benefits include parental allowances at basic and minimum level, child allowances, sickness benefit in the form of guaranteed benefits and housing allowances.

    The Riksdag has voted in favour of the Government’s proposal to create secure conditions for meetings and demonstrations.

  • Psychological violence to be criminalised

    The Riksdag has voted in favour of the Government’s proposal to criminalise psychological violence. The legislative proposal will make it possible to capture offensive patterns of behaviour that are used to control or break down a person and that currently fall outside the area of what is punishable under law.

  • Enhanced measures for the elderly and their relatives

    The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal that residents in special housing for the elderly should be offered a specific care contact. The individual appointed as specific care contact should be an assistant nurse.

  • Serving of food no longer a requirement for licence to serve alcohol

    The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government’s proposal to abolish the requirement that food be served and of having one's own kitchen in order to be granted a licence to serve alcohol.
