The new Riksdag after the elections

On 13 September, elections were held in Sweden. The final election results have been confirmed, and it is now clear how the Riksdag’s 349 seats will be distributed among the eight parties that obtained at least four per cent of the votes in the 2026 parliamentary elections.
There are 349 seats to be allocated in the Riksdag. The number of seats each party receives should be in proportion to the number of votes the party has received in the parliamentary elections. The general rule is that a particular party must receive at least four per cent of the votes in order to enter the Riksdag.

The list below shows how the Riksdag’s 349 seats are to be allocated between the parties after the 2026 elections.
- Social Democratic Party (SocDem) 99 seats
- Moderate Party (Mod) 70 seats
- Sweden Democrats (SweDem) 62 seats
- Left Party (Lft) 30 seats
- Centre Party (Cen) 25 seats
- Christian Democrats (ChrDem) 22 seats
- Green Party (Grn) 22 seats
- Liberal Party (Lib) 19 seats

Roll-call and the opening of the Riksdag session
The new Riksdag will meet for a roll-call on Monday 28 September After the roll-call, the Riksdag will elect the Speaker and Deputy Speakers for the 2026-2030 electoral period The ceremony for the opening of the Riksdag will take place on 29 September.
