  • Members elected for the parliamentary committees, the Committee on European Union Affairs, the Riksdag Board and the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs

    Today, Tuesday 4 October, the Riksdag has elected members to form part of the 15 Riksdag committees during 2022–2026. The Riksdag has also chosen the members of the Committee on European Union Affairs, the Riksdag Board and the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs.

    On Monday 3 October, the Riksdag Nominations Committee decided on proposals for members and deputy members of the parliamentary committees, the Committee on European Union Affairs, the Riksdag Board and the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs.

  • Members of the Riksdag to participate in monitoring of the elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina

    On 2 October, general elections will be held in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Five Swedish MPs will be included in an international delegation to observe the elections.

  • Next step in the formation of a government

    The Speaker Andreas Norlén has today had a meeting with Ulf Kristersson (Moderate Party) to discuss the continued task of exploring the possibilities of forming a government. The next step will be for Ulf Kristersson to submit an interim report to the Speaker on 5 October and a final report will be submitted on 12 October.

  • Party group leaders in the Riksdag presented

    The new group leaders of the parties represented in the Riksdag were presented at the first meeting of the newly-elected Riksdag on 26 September. The Riksdag also appointed a Nominations Committee for the parliamentary committees and other Riksdag bodies.

  • Three Deputy Speakers elected

    The Riksdag has elected the Deputy Speakers. Kenneth G Forslund (Social Democratic Party) has been elected First Deputy Speaker. Julia Kronlid (Sweden Democrats) has been elected Second Deputy Speaker and Kerstin Lundgren (Centre Party) Third Deputy Speaker.

  • The Speaker announces the next step in the process of forming a government

    Andreas Norlén has been elected Speaker of the Riksdag for the electoral period 2022-2026. The Speaker will now start the task of preparing a proposal for a new prime minister.

    The Riksdag has elected Andreas Norlén Speaker for the electoral period 2022–2026. He was elected by acclamation. Acclamation means that the members of the Riksdag react to a proposal by shouting "yes" or "no".
