Press invitation: Ceremony in connection with Sweden's accession to NATO

In connection with Sweden’s accession to the defence alliance NATO, the Riksdag and the Government will hold a ceremony at Riksplan on Monday 18 March 2024.
At the ceremony, speeches will be delivered by H.M. The King, the Speaker Andreas Norlén and the Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Micael Bydén, Members of Parliament and Ministers of the Government will also attend. Photographers and journalists are welcome to follow the ceremony.
Programme
6.45 Riksplan will open for journalists and photographers who have notified their attendance in advance. Entry will be via the stairway leading from Riksgatan to the southern end of the Eastern Wing of the Riksdag.
7.45 The entrance for journalists and photographers will close.
7.45 Photographers and journalists must have taken their places by this time at the latest.
8.15 Guests must have taken their places by this time at the latest.
8.30 Flag-raising ceremony
9.00 The ceremony finishes.
Practical information
A limited number of places will be available for journalists and photographers (for stills and moving images) at Riksplan. Riksplan will be cordoned off and journalists and photographers will not be able to move freely, but will be shown to specially designated areas. Please note that the places are outdoors with no roof. Please note that there will be no possibility to carry out interviews at Riksplan. Any possible wishes as regards interviews will be referred to the relevant press service. The ceremony will be broadcast live on the Government websitewww.regeringen.se
Prior notification of attendance
To follow the ceremony on location at Riksplan, it is necessary to have Riksdag media accreditation and to have submitted prior notification of attendance. Anyone who does not have Riksdag media accreditation can apply for it in connection with their prior notification of attendance. Please note that your notification does not guarantee you a place. Please note that the number of locations is limited and a selection procedure may therefore be put in place. The Riksdag Administration will notify everyone who has submitted prior notification of attendance as soon as possible after the application period has expired.
The application period is from Friday 8 March at 4 p.m. Until Wednesday 13 March at 12 noon. Please submit your application by email to carina.larsson@riksdagen.se. Please state your name as well the name of the media company you work for.
