King and Queen of Denmark visit the Riksdag

The Speaker Andreas Norlén received the King of Denmark Frederik X and Queen Mary in connection with their state visit to Sweden on 6 May. During their visit to the Riksdag, the royal couple also met the party group leaders of the Riksdag.

The overall themes of the state visit were security and defence policy cooperation in the neighbouring region, research and innovation and international contacts. The Speaker and the royal couple discussed Nordic and Nordic-Baltic cooperation in the light of the Swedish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8), the changed security situation in our region and Sweden’s membership of NATO, and the war in Ukraine.

Background

The Danish Royal Couple King Frederik X and Queen Mary visited Sweden at the invitation of HM The King. This is the first state visit of the new Danish monarch since he acceded the throne in January. The purpose of the state visit was to further strengthen good relations between Sweden and Denmark.
