The Government has proposed legislative amendments one of the aims of which is to encourage more people to leave Sweden after a decision on removal, that is, refusal of entry or expulsion to their home countries. The Riksdag has voted in favour of the proposal.

The Riksdag voted in favour of a proposal from the Government, among other things enabling extended opportunities to use video surveillance. The proposal means, for example, that public sector actors will no longer require a permit for video surveillance.

Third Deputy Speaker visits Malaysia

On 24 February, it will be three years since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. To mark the anniversary and mark the Riksdag’s continued support for the Ukrainian people, the Speaker, the Committee on Finance, the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on Defence and the Committee on EU Affairs will arrange a seminar on 20 February.

Debate on Sweden’s foreign policy
The foreign policy debate will be held in the Riksdag on 12 February at 9 a.m. The Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard (Moderate Party) will introduce the debate with a presentation of the Government’s Statement of Foreign Policy, that is the Government’s objectives and priorities for foreign policy.
Memorial ceremony held in the Chamber
In honour of the victims of the violent attack in Örebro, a memorial ceremony was held in the Chamber on 11 February. Following a minute of silence, the Speaker Andreas Norlén held a speech and the member of the Swedish Academy Jila Mossaed read one of her poems.
