On 12 December, the Riksdag will hold a seminar with the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023.

The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Narges Mohammadi from Iran for her work with gender equality, human rights and freedom in Iran. As the Nobel laureate is in prison in Iran at present, her three closest family members will be participating in the seminar in her place.

Time: 14:00–15:30
Venue: Former Second Chamber, entrance via Riksgatan 2

The seminar will be open to invited media, and can be watched directly and on demand via the Riksdag webcast service. The seminar will be broadcast in Swedish and English.

Programme

  • Welcoming address by the Speaker Andreas Norlén
  • The main speaker – Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi who is imprisoned in Iran – will be represented by her three closest family members, her husband Taghi Rahmani, her son Ali Rahmani and her daughter Kiana Rahmani.
  • Address by Javaid Rehman, UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation on Human Rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
  • Panel discussion with the representatives of the Nobel laureate, UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation on Human Rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Javaid Rehman and the presiding officers of the Committee on Foreign Affairs: Aron Emilsson (Sweden Democrats), Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Morgan Johansson (Social Democratic Party), Deputy Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs

Moderator: Irina Schoulgin Nyoni, Swedish Ambassador for Human Rights, Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

The seminar will be interpreted between English, French and Farsi.
