Public meeting in the Committee on Foreign Affairs on the SIPRI Yearbook 2026

The Committee on Foreign Affairs will hold a public meeting on Tuesday 9 June. The meeting is being held in connection with the launch of the SIPRI Yearbook 2026, a year that also marks the institute’s 60th anniversary.

Time: 1 p.m.–2 p.m.
Place: The former First Chamber, Riksplan, Norrbro 1A

The meeting is open to the public and media and can be watched live and on demand via the Riksdag webcast service. The meeting will be held in English.

Getting to the Riksdag

The SIPRI Yearbook provides an overview of developments in international security, weapons and technology, military expenditure, arms production and the arms trade, as well as armed conflicts and conflict management. It also deals with efforts to control conventional, nuclear, chemical and biological weapons

An overview of the deteriorating security situation for control of nuclear weapons, growing nuclear risks in Europe and current global trends in non-proliferation and disarmament.

Dr Vincent Boulanin, Director, Governance of AI Programme
A presentation of how AI affects international peace and security, with a focus on risks connected with military applications, cyber threats, disinformation and the need for international management.

Nivedita Raju, Senior Researcher, Weapons of Mass Destruction Programme
An analysis of the increasing importance of space for civil and military operations, emerging threats to space systems, how shortcomings in the current regulatory framework can increase the risk of escalation and possible ways forward.
