The Riksdag's part of the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union in spring 2023
Every six months, the Presidency of the Council – or the Council of the European Union as it is formally called – is held by a different member state. Sweden held the Presidency in the first six months of 2023.
During the six months, the Riksdag arranged eight conferences in which members of parliament and officials from the national parliaments of the EU member states and the European Parliament, and in certain cases from parliaments in other countries, participated and discussed various issues. The national parliaments’ part of the arrangements during the EU Presidency is commonly referred to as the parliamentary dimension.
