Cookies

A cookie is a small text file, containing information, which is stored on your computer. The Riksdag does not store any personal information via cookies. If you do not wish to receive cookies, you can adjust the settings in your web browser.

According to the Electronic Communications Act (SFS 2003:389), all visitors to a website that has cookies should be informed that the website contains cookies and why they are used. Visitors should also agree to the website's use of cookies.

On the Riksdag website, cookies are used for purely technical purposes in order to improve the functioning of the website for the user. They are only used where necessary. If a function can be used without cookies and it is possible to remove cookies without this resulting in unreasonable costs or poorer functioning for the user, this should be done.

The Riksdag Administration reviews the website continuously to see whether any of the cookies can be removed.

How cookies are used on the Riksdag website

Cookies are stored on your computer when you use the following functions:

  • book visits
  • order publications, apply for media accreditation, register as a new Library user, apply to courses

Cookies are activated and stored when the function they are needed for is activated. All functions that use cookies are activated when you as the user take a specific measure, for example, when you click a button. Information about cookies is available on the pages containing the functions that use cookies. When you activate the function in question, you automatically give your consent to using cookies.

The Riksdag Administration does not store any personal information via cookies. Information about a visitor cannot be traced.

If you wish to avoid cookies

If you do not wish to receive cookies, you can adjust the settings in your web browser. However, this may mean that you will not have access to all the pages on the website.

You can adjust your web browser so that you automatically refuse all storage of cookies, or are informed every time a website asks to store a cookie on your computer. You can also delete cookies that have been stored earlier via your web browser. See the web browser's help pages for further information.
