First Deputy Speaker visits Armenia
First Deputy Speaker Kenneth G Forslund will attend an NB8 visit to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, from 22 to 24 January 2025. Speakers from the parliaments of the Nordic and Baltic countries will be participating in the visit. The visit will take place at the invitation of the President of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan.
Memorial address for former Speaker Birgitta Dahl
On Tuesday 17 December at 3.30 p.m., the Speaker Andreas Norlén delivered a speech in the Chamber in memory of the deceased former Speaker and former member of the Riksdag Birgitta Dahl (Social Democratic Party).
Winners of the Riksdag essay competition 2024
Two winners, Martin Lindqvist and Jeanette Rian, have been selected in the Riksdag's essay competition 2024. The winning essays are about publicly versus privately run welfare in the case of Televerket/Telia, by Martin Lindqvist, and about how representation changed in the Riksdag during the COVID-19 pandemic, by Jeanette Rian.
First Deputy Speaker visits Qatar
The First Deputy Speaker Kenneth G Forslund (Social Democratic Party) visited Qatar on 25–29 November together with a delegation of members of the Riksdag. The purpose of the visit was, inter alia, to discuss current issues and promote a positive image of Sweden through parliamentary contacts.
