The EU's work environment legislation comprises minimum requirements for the protection of employees in the EU. The member states can then apply more stringent rules than those imposed by the EU. The Swedish Work Environment Authority is a public agency which provides information about existing rules on the work environment and working hours.

Energy certification of buildings

When you are going to buy or rent a home, you are entitled to see its energy certification, that is, how much energy the building consumes. The Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning provides information about the rules relating to energy certification.

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency provides information about rules relating to areas such as climate and air, land, biodiversity, polluted areas, ecocyles and waste, environmental supervision and environmental research.

The county administrative board about what applies in your county

The county administrative boards are public authorities which are responsible for ensuring that environmental rules are complied with in Sweden’s counties. Each county administrative board cooperates with the country’s municipalities, as well as the national agencies the Swedish Board of Agriculture, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management.
