The Committee on Finance’s monetary policy evaluations
The Committee on Finance conducts annual monetary policy evaluations as well as evaluations with a more long-term perspective. As a basis for its evaluations, the Committee appoints independent, expert evaluations by researchers in the field. Here you will find the independent expert evaluations.
Annual evaluations with the help of researchers
The focus of the Committee on Finance’s annual evaluations is monetary policy during the previous calendar year. Since 2023, the Committee on Finance has also commissioned an independent expert evaluation by researchers in the field to assist its annual evaluation.
Evaluation of monetary policy 2024
The Committee on Finance commissioned the Center for Monetary Policy and Financial Stability (CeMoF) at Stockholm University to conduct an external and independent evaluation of monetary policy in 2024.
The results are presented in the report Sweden’s Monetary Policy 2024. The report was written by Professor John Hassler, Assistant Professor Karin Kinnerud, Professor Per Krusell and Professor Roine Vestman.

Evaluations with a more long-term perspective
In addition to the annual evaluation, the Committee on Finance conducts a more extensive evaluation of monetary policy in a more long-term perspective every few years. In these evaluations, the Committee has commissioned international researchers and former central bank governors to write the underlying reports. The evaluations have often contributed to public debate on the basic premises and formulation of Swedish monetary policy.
Sweden’s monetary policy 2015–2024 has been evaluated by Wilkins and Ravn
The Committee on Finance commissioned two economists to evaluate the Riksbank’s monetary policy during the period 2015–2024. The commissioned economists were Morten Ravn, Professor of Economics at University College London, and Carolyn Wilkins, Senior Research Scholar at Princeton University. The Committee has considered the evaluation in Committee report 2025/26:FiU27, with a planned decision in June 2026.

Sweden’s monetary policy 2015–2020 has been evaluated by Flug and Honohan
The Committee on Finance commissioned two economists to evaluate the Riksbank’s monetary policy during the period 2015–2020. The evaluators were Patrick Honohan, former Governor of the Bank of Ireland and member of the ECB Executive Board and Karnit Flug, Professor and former Governor of the Bank of Israel.

The Committee on Finance commissioned two economists to evaluate the Riksbank’s monetary policy during the period 2010–2015. The economists were Mervyn King, Governor of the Bank of England in 2003–2013 and Marvin Goodfriend, Professor at Carnegie Mellon University.
