The Riksdag website contains information in over twenty different languages and language variations. In addition, the website contains a separate section in English, and information in sign language and easy Swedish. You can also order information material in different languages.
The website contains information partly in the national minority languages in Sweden and partly in languages spoken by people living in Sweden who were born in another country.
National minority languages
The national minority languages in Sweden are:
- Finnish
- Meänkieli (Tornedal Finnish)
- Yiddish
- Romani
- Sami
There are several different variations of Romani and Sami. We have chosen to translate five variations of Romani (Arli/Gurbeti, Kalderash, Kalé, Lovari and Swedish Romani), and three variations of Sami (North Sami, Lule Sami and South Sami). We have made the selection in cooperation with organisations for the national minorities.
Languages spoken by people living in Sweden and born in another country
The selection of other languages on the website was made on the basis of a list from the Swedish Integration Board of the major languages spoken by people living in Sweden who were born in another country. Albanian and Kurdish were added to the list, because these are major languages in Sweden, even though this does not show in the statistics.
This means that we have information in:
- Finnish
- Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian
- Arabic
- Spanish
- English (separate section)
- Persian
- German
- Polish
- Turkish
- Northern Kurdish
- Southern Kurdish
- Albanian
Please note that one of the languages - Finnish - is a national minority language.
We regularly check our list against Statistics Sweden's list of people born outside Sweden according to country of birth.
