About the Riksdag Library

The Riksdag Library is open to everyone. Here you will find its address, as well as information about opening hours and accessibility.

The Library is situated at Storkyrkobrinken 7 A in the Old Town in Stockholm.
Ring the intercom at the door to be let in by the security officer, after which you will pass through a quick security check. Larger groups are asked to inform us in advance, if possible, to facilitate their entry to the Library.

Borrow and returning books

Anyone who has reached the age of 18 can register as a user of the Riksdag Library. Once you have registered as a user, you can request, reserve and borrow books. If you do not live in the Stockholm area and are unable to visit the Riksdag Library yourself, contact your local library for assistance.

Accessibility

There is an entrance with a ramp at street level. The door opening is approximately 84 cm wide and the door can be opened by pressing a button. The main library hall is one floor up from the entrance, and can be accessed by a lift. The second floor of the library is also accessible by lift. There are wheelchair-adapted toilets on every floor. The desks by the computers in the Library can be raised and lowered. There is a reading machine with a video magnifier.

Reading areas in the Library

There are plenty of reading areas in the Library. It also has a quiet reading room and two group study rooms, both for a maximum of four people.
A wireless network is available in the Library. Ask the staff for log-in details.

Photography in the Library

You are welcome to take photographs in the Library, but please make sure you do not disturb other Library users. For reasons of privacy and security, you are not permitted to take photographs of visitors to the Library. You are responsible for ensuring that photographs are not spread and that personal privacy is not violated. Taking photographs for feature films, advertisements or other productions besides news productions is not permitted in the Riksdag buildings.

Irregular opening hours

The Library is closed on public holidays and during the summer. In 2023, the Library will be closed on the following dates:

  • Easter: 6–10 April
  • May Day: 1 May
  • Ascension Day: 18 May
  • Sweden’s National Day: 6 June
  • Midsummer: 22–23 June
  • Summer: 3 July–13 August
  • Staff planning meetings: 21–22 September
  • All Saints’ Day: closed 3 November
  • Christmas 2023-24: 23 December–7 January
