Search the website

On this page you will find tips about how to use the website's search function, for example, to search for documents.

Relevant information is displayed in the hit list so that you can quickly see whether or not a hit matches what you were searching for.

  • All hits display an extract from the document to help you navigate.
  • The status of a hit is displayed directly. This may, for example, be the date a matter was approved, the date of a debate and decision, or whether a motion has been approved. The number of proposals and reservations belonging to a matter are also displayed here.
  • You can see which committee is responsible for preparing a proposal.
  • If there are any documents connected with a specific matter, they can be downloaded directly, for example, in PDF format.
  • Links to any webcasts are also shown.

Adapted filters

The facets are clickable search filters which display the contents according to category. These filters are optional. Some of the search filters in turn generate further filter opportunities, and the hit list is updated gradually with the hits that match your choices. Next to each filter you can see how many hits there are for that particular filter.

For example, under the search filter Dokumenttyp, common document types that many people search for are listed: laws, motions and interpellations. The list can also be expanded to show other document types. It is also possible to expand the view, for example, by showing the number of hits for a document type per parliamentary year.

It is possible to filter the status information for different document types. For example, you can use the filter to find which laws and ordinances in the Swedish Code of Statutes (SFS) are in force, and which have been repealed.

Refine by combining filters

You can combine different search filters in order to refine your search. In this way you can, for example, obtain statistics on how often members of the Riksdag or parties use a specific word or concept, or which matters a specific parliamentary committee is working with right now.

The filters can also be used to find which reservations the Riksdag has approved, which motions it has voted in favour of and which government bills it has rejected.

Field searches directly in the search box

Field searches mean that you formulate your search directly in the search box and the results are shown in the hit list. The results can then be combined with search filters if you wish to make a more advanced search.

Free-text searches

Enter one or several words in the search box. Searches for several words with a space in between mean that your hits will contain the words you searched for. If you wish to narrow your search, you can add more words. If you want to broaden your search, you can use fewer words.

Search using OCH, ELLER, INTE

You can combine words by writing OCH, ELLER and INTE between words. Please note that you need to use capital letters.

Example

If you write:

riksbanken OCH ränta

your hits will contain both “riksbanken” and “ränta”.

If you write:

riksbanken ELLER ränta

your hits be for documents containing either “riksbanken” or “ränta” or both “riksbanken” and “ränta”.

If you write:

riksbanken INTE ränta

your hits will be for documents containing “riksbanken” but not “ränta”.

Truncate with an asterisk

You can enter an asterisk “*” before or after a word. This is known as truncation and means that you will receive hits with different inflections and words with multiple endings.

Example

If you write

“arbetsmarknad*” you will, for example, receive hits for “arbetsmarknad", "arbetsmarknaden", "arbetsmarknadsåtgärder", and "arbetsmarknadsutskottet”.

Combine searches with parentheses

You can combine searches using parentheses.

Example

If you write

"(trängselavgifter ELLER biltullar) OCH bilskatt"

you will receive hits for documents containing partly either "trängselavgifter" or "bilskatt" or both "trängselavgifter" and "bilskatt", and partly "biltullar" and "bilskatt".

Approximation

You can search for words within a certain distance from each other. Such approximations can be made using a tilde “~”. The highest number of words there can be between the search terms is defined by entering a number after the tilde.

Example

If you write

"godkända betyg gymnasiet"~50

you will receive hits for documents containing these words when they occur within 50 words of each other.
