Guide to the website
Our ambition is to make it easy for visitors to the Riksdag website to familiarise themselves with the work and decisions of the Riksdag. The website is also intended to stimulate interest in and increase knowledge about the Riksdag and the democratic process.
The website has the following main sections:
News
Under News, you will find the latest information about the work and decisions of the Riksdag. You will also find current campaigns on various themes.
Members and parties
In this section, you will find the 349 members of the Riksdag divided up for example according to their party or constituency. The page of each member contains information on what the member has said and done in the Riksdag. (The content of these pages is partly in Swedish.)
Documents and laws
In the Documents and laws section you can read about the various types of documents connected with the work of the Riksdag. Here you will find explanations of each type of document, such as motions and interpellations. The explanations are categorised according to the Riksdag's decision-making process, from proposal to law.
This section also includes links to the document archive on the Swedish website. Here the documents are divided up according to type and year. Use the filter on the right to help you navigate.
Under this heading, you will also find material in English that may be ordered or downloaded, such as publications and study materials.
How the Riksdag works
This section contains various guides and explanations regarding the tasks and work of the Riksdag. There is also information on the work of the Speaker and Deputy Speakers and on the parliamentary committees and Committee on EU Affairs, as well as their areas of responsibility.
Contact and visit
In this section, you will find contact information and information about how to visit the Riksdag. The section also contains specific information for the media. The Riksdag Library has a special portal where you can, for example, search the Library's collections.
Watch
Here you will find the web broadcasts from the Riksdag that have been interpreted into English. The section also contains explanatory videos about the work of the Riksdag, with English subtitles.
Search
In the Search section you will find the Riksdag's document archive. The documents are divided up according to type and year. Use the filter on the right to help you navigate. Most of the documents are in Swedish. The Riksdag Administration translates the laws making up the Constitution of Sweden (the fundamental laws and the Riksdag Act) into English, but no other laws.
