The Speaker of the Riksdag Andreas Norlén, together with Chairman of the Parliament of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, hosted Speakers of national parliaments and interparliamentary organisations. Previous summits have been held in Zagreb 2022, Prague 2023 and Riga 2024. At the end of the meeting a joint final document will be adopted.
The parliamentary summit aims to highlight the consequences of Russia’s annexation of Crimea, the policy of non-recognition and to increase pressure on Russia to cease its annexation of Crimea. Sanctions, human rights, security, and economic and environmental consequences will also be discussed.
The Crimea Platform was launched at government level in Kiev in 2021 and is an international forum for discussion and coordination. It is held at different levels, such as between governments, foreign ministers, parliaments and interparliamentary assemblies, as well as civil society and expert communities. The aim is that the occupation of Crimea ceases and that it is peacefully returned to Ukraine.
