Surplus in the income pension system to be distributed

The Riksdag voted in favour of new rules on the management of surpluses in the income pension system. According to the proposal, it will be possible to apply an “accelerator pedal” in the pension system in order to increase pensions.
The amendments will come into force on 1 August 2026 and will be applied for the first time in 2027.
