The Speaker pays official visit to Portugal

The Speaker Andreas Norlén visited Lisbon on 28-29 January together with four members of the Riksdag at the invitation of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal, José Pedro Aguiar Branco.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the already very good bilateral and parliamentary relations between Portugal and Sweden.
Issues raised during the visit include the foreign the foreign and security policy situation and cooperation inside the EU and NATO, democracy issues, the importance of trade for jobs and growth as well as research and innovation.
In addition to the meeting with the President of the Assembly, the programme included meetings with the outgoing President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and the Minister for Parliamentary Cooperation, Carlos Abreu Amorim.
The Speaker and delegation also attended a security policy lunch with Portuguese decision-makers, experts and parliamentarians for talks on European security, NATO matters and joint support to Ukraine, and visited STRIKFORNATO (Naval striking and Support Forces NATO), which serves as the naval operation staff of the Commander of NATO's European forces. The Speaker also participated in a discussion with upper-secondary school pupils on the subject of democracy.
In addition to Speaker Andreas Norlén, the Swedish delegation consisted of the following members of the Riksdag:
