Temporarily reduced VAT on food

The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government’s proposal to temporarily reduce the value-added tax rate (VAT rate) on food from 12 per cent to 6 per cent. The purpose of the proposal is to support household finances.
The amendments will apply between 1 April 2026 and 31 December 2027.
