Access to laughing gas to be limited

The Riksdag has voted in favour of the Government’s proposal to limit access to laughing gas.
The proposal aims to counteract the use of laughing gas as a substance of intoxication. This is to be done by
- preventing laughing gas being sold if there is particular reason to assume that it is to be used as an intoxicant
- allowing a maximum of 18 grammes of laughing gas to be sold to a private individual per occasion
- not allowing it to be sold to anyone under the age of 18
- not allowing it to be marketed in violation of the new law
The new act will come into force on 1 July 2025.
