To editorial staff: Advance application is required for a photo location at the opening of the Riksdag session
Published:
The opening of the Riksdag session will take place on Tuesday 10 September. In connection with the ceremony, there will be a limited number of photo locations available for the media. In order to be allocated a photo location, you need to apply in advance to cover the opening, and you also require media accreditation to the Riksdag.
On Tuesday 10 September the guests will start to arrive at the Riksdag via Riksplan at 1 p.m. At 2 p.m. the ceremony for the opening of the Riksdag session will start in the Chamber. In connection with the ceremony, photo locations will be available for media at Riksplan and in the Chamber. Later in the afternoon photo locations will also be offered outside the Royal Opera, when members and guests arrive for a performance that starts at 7 p.m. The performance will not be open to the media.
How to apply
The application period starts at 8 a.m. on 29 August and ends at 5 p.m. on 5 September.
Applications will be received by email only to press240910@riksdagen.se. Enter your name, editorial office and which photo location you would like.
- At Riksplan there are places partly on a press stand next to the steps to the East Wing of the Riksdag, and partly on the ground just in front of the steps. The locations are outdoors and there is no roof.
- In the Chamber there are photo locations in front of the press gallery (position 1), on the balconies (positions 7 and 10) and in the photo openings (positions 8 and 9). See map: Photography
- Outside the Royal Opera there are locations in a press area beside the entrance. The locations are outdoors and there is no roof.
How photo locations are allocated
Please note that application in advance will not guarantee you a place. The Riksdag Administration will inform everyone who has applied whether they have received a location by 9 September at the latest.
The photo locations are allocated among those with media accreditation to the Riksdag who have applied in advance to cover the opening. If we receive more applications than the number of available places, the locations will be allocated according to the following principles:
- first, we will prioritise photographers working for photo agencies/news agencies who regularly sell images to the media which are available to the public in Sweden or for national newspapers or national television companies;
- if there are still more people who have applied than the number of available places, the time of application will be used, on a first-come, first-served basis.
