Unlawful financial activities to be punishable by fines or imprisonment

Unlawful financial activity can now be punished with fines or imprisonment for a maximum of six years. The Riksdag has voted in favour of the Government’s proposal on this matter. The purpose is to increase the possibility to discover money laundering and similar offences.
The amendment will come into force on 1 March 2026.
