Several joint statements

During the session, a number of resolutions, that is, joint public statements, were adopted. The themes for these include strengthening the transatlantic economic partnership and security, promotion of stability and reconciliation in the Western Balkans, NATO preparedness for uncrewed warfare, as well as continued strong support and solidarity with Ukraine.

The agenda also included topics such as the protection of critical infrastructure against hybrid attacks, cyber security, disinformation, the development of US and European defence, the Arctic, and NATO’s future strategy on Russia.

Speeches by Rutte and Zelensky

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte delivered a speech at the session and answered questions from the members. The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky also participated digitally and delivered a speech.

An award ceremony was held at which the 2025 Women for Peace and Security award was presented to Dr. Viosa Osmani Sadriu from Kosovo.

The members of the Riksdag participated in committee meetings and thematic discussions and voted on proposals for joint statements – resolutions – adopted by the Assembly.

No binding decisions are taken at the annual sessions, but the discussions between parliamentarians from NATO’s 32 member countries play an important role in increasing understanding in the field of security policy and help to promote transparency in society.
