Threats, violence and corruption to be combatted in municipalities and regions
Published:
The Riksdag has voted in favour of two amendments to the Local Government Act. According to one of the amendments, more measures will be taken to prevent elected representatives in municipal and regional councils from being exposed to threats and violence. The aim of the other amendment is to make it clearer that prevention of errors and of irregularities such as corruption is part of municipalities’ and regions’ internal control functions.
The amendments will come into force on 1 July 2025.
