Scale of penalties raised for threats and violence against public sector employees

The protection of public sector employees against, among other things, threats and violence will be increased. The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government’s proposal on this matter. The proposal means, for example, the introduction of a more stringent scale of penalties and of the new offence – insulting an official. Explicit support for in some cases omitting the name of the decision-maker in written information about decisions will also be introduced.
The amendments will come into force on 2 July 2025.
