New Social Services Act to replace current Act

The current Social Services Act will be replaced by a new Social Services Act. The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government’s proposal on this matter. The Riksdag also voted in favour of amendments to other laws as a consequence of the new Social Services Act.
The purpose of the new Act is to make the social services more sustainable in the long term and to enable them to work more with prevention and with knowledge-based methods.
The new Social Services Act will come into force on 1 July 2025.
