Stricter rules for party-political lotteries

Published:

The Riksdag has voted in favour of the Government’s proposal that it shall be clearer to consumers if they are supporting a party-political organisation when purchasing a lottery ticket. The proposal also contains stipulations that party-political lotteries should no longer be exempted from gambling tax, credit prohibition or bonus limitation requirements.

The amendments will come into force on 1 January 2026.

The Riksdag also rejected all proposals in motions approximately 30 of which were submitted during the general private members’ motions period 2024.
