New marine national park in the Baltic Sea

The Riksdag voted in favour of the establishment of the Nämdö Archipelago National Park in the municipality of Värmdö.

The purpose of the proposal is to maintain a marine and archipelago landscape that is rich in variation and representative of the Baltic Sea. The national park will be Sweden’s first marine national park in the Baltic Sea.

The Riksdag also rejected approximately 180 proposals in motions from the general private members’ motions period 2024, primarily with reference to already taken or ongoing measures. These motions deal, for example, with area protection, marine environment issues, species protection and invasive alien species.
