Improved high-cost protection for dental care (SoU10)

The Riksdag has voted in favour of improved high-cost protection for dental care. The decision means that the current system of high-cost protection will be supplemented with a new form of support. This new support is called special dental care subsidy and is directed at the elderly in an initial stage.
The Government, or the public authority designated by the Government, can announce regulations on which patients will be entitled to the special dental care subsidy and on what dental care will entitle these patients to the special dental care subsidy.
The amendments will come into force on 1 January 2026.
