Police work to combat sexual abuse of children should be prioritised and intensified

The Riksdag wants the Government to promptly task the Swedish Police Authority with prioritising and intensifying work to combat sexual abuse of children in digital environments. The Riksdag is therefore calling on the Government to act on this by way of an announcement.

The Riksdag also considers that the task should include work on developing the blocklist to a greater extent than is the case today to include websites that in various ways promote or enable sexual abuse of children.

The background to the Riksdag calling on the Government in this case is the information that has emerged in the media that includes how Swedes commit sexual abuse of Filipino children over the internet. There have also been reports of how “sugar dating sites” organise sexual contacts between adult men and minors and that there have been sales of sex dolls representing children via certain major e-commerce platforms.

The announcement concerning police work to combat sexual abuse of children in digital environments is based on a committee initiative from the Committee on Justice. A committee initiative means that the proposal has been introduced in a committee and is not based on a proposal from the Government or a private member’s motion.
