The Speaker and the Committee on Foreign Affairs visit the NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia

On 16 April, the Speaker Andreas Norlén and members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs visited the Swedish Battalion at the NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia, Camp Valdemar.
The Speaker and MPs were shown around, received information about the work of the battalion and had the opportunity to speak to the Swedish soldiers. The Speaker also met the Speaker of the Latvian Parliament Daiga Mierina.
The background to the visit was the Riksdag’s decision of 12 December 2024 (UFöU2) to approve the Government making a Swedish armed force available until 31 December 2025. The objective is to contribute to NATO’s overall deterrence and defence of the North Atlantic area.
