Committee from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly visits the Riksdag

On 25–26 September, the Swedish delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly hosted a visit from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly's Defence and Security Committee. The visiting delegation consisted of some 20 members of parliament from NATO member states.

The Swedish delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly received the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s Defence and Security Committee. 

The programme included study visits to the Berga Naval Base, Muskö Naval Base, SAAB headquarters and Air Force in Uppsala. Third Deputy Speaker Kerstin Lundgren hosted a seminar at the Riksdag on 25 September, during which members of the Riksdag had the opportunity to discuss defence and security policy matters with their counterparts from other NATO member states.

Background

The NATO Parliamentary Assembly is a forum for parliamentarians from the NATO member states, which now number 32 since Sweden’s entry into NATO in March 2024. This year, it is 75 years since NATO was founded.
