Members of the Riksdag observe elections in Uzbekistan

Parliamentary elections will be held in Uzbekistan on 27 October. Five members of the Riksdag will be included in an international delegation to observe the elections.
Parliamentary elections will be held in Uzbekistan on 27 October. Five members of the Riksdag will be included in an international delegation to observe the elections.
Some 45 members of parliament from 25 OSCE member states will participate in the observation mission. By being on location in selected parts of the country on election day, the task of the observers is to monitor that the election is open and that it is managed correctly. The members of parliament observe the actual election, the sealing of the ballot papers and the counting of the votes in various polling stations.
The following members of the Riksdag will participate:
- Björn Söder (Sweden Democrats)
- Marie-Louise Hänel Sandström (Moderate Party)
- Andreas Lennkvist Manriquez (Left Party)
- Magnus Oscarsson (Christian Democrats)
- Ulrika Westerlund (Green Party)
The Swedish MPs will observe the elections in and around the city of Samarkand.
The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly
The observation mission is arranged in cooperation between the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), the European Parliament and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). ODIHR has observers in the country for a longer period, before and after the elections.
Press conference on 28 October
A press conference will be held in Tashkent on 28 October, where a preliminary statement on the elections will be issued. The statement will be published on the website of the OSCE PA.
