The Speaker on official visit to Poland

On 9–10 October, the Speaker Andreas Norlén visited Poland together with four members of the Riksdag. The programme included meetings with the Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Holownia and the Polish President Andrzej Duda.

The Speaker and the rest of the delegation from the Riksdag met the Marshal of the Senate Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska.

The delegation also met the Marshal of the Senate Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski and members of the European Union Affairs, Foreign Affairs and National Defence Committees.

Items on the agenda included security and defence policy cooperation, bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation and the situation in Ukraine. Nordic-Baltic-Polish cooperation and the Polish EU Presidency were also discussed during the visit.

The programme also included a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and a meeting with the UNHCR’s representative in Poland and Polish organisations who are working with refugees from Ukraine.

In addition to the Speaker Andreas Norlén, the Swedish delegation consisted of members of the Riksdag Erik Ottoson (Mod), Olle Thorell (SocDem), Jytte Guteland (SocDem) och Göran Hargestam (SweDem) and the Deputy Secretary-General of the Riksdag Kristina Svartz.
