Press invitation: Seminar with Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine

On 4 December, the Riksdag will hold a seminar with one of the winners of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, Professor Gary Ruvkun. The seminar is open to invited guests and media who notify their wish to attend in advance.
Gary Ruvkun is the joint recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2024, together with Victor Ambros, for their discovery of microRNA and its role in post-transcriptional gene regulation.
The seminar will be held in English.
Time: Wednesday 4 December at 10.30–11.15 a.m. Seats must be taken by 10.15 a.m.
Venue: The former First Chamber, East Wing of the Riksdag
Programme
- The Speaker Andreas Norlén opens and introduces the discussion.
- Nobel Laureate Gary Ruvkun talks about his research and answers questions from members of the Riksdag.
- Gunilla Svantorp (Social Democratic Party), Chair of the Association of MPs and Researchers of the Swedish Parliament (RIFO) closes the seminar.
The seminar is arranged by RIFO.
Moderator: Ulrika Björkstén, Public & Science Sweden.
Photo opportunity
There will be a photo opportunity for media representatives who have notified their wish to attend in advance in the former First Chamber at the start of the seminar.
Notification of attendance by the media
The seminar is open to journalists and photographers with media accreditation to the Riksdag, but the number of seats is limited, which is why it is necessary to notify one's attendance in advance. Everyone who is assigned a seat will be informed of this. Please notify your wish to attend to Karl Lindberg: karl.lindberg@riksdagen.se by 12 noon on Tuesday 3 December.
Media accreditation
Journalists and photographers wishing to work independently in the Riksdag premises require media accreditation to the Riksdag. Information and an application form are available on the Riksdag website.
