Continued support for Ukraine at top of agenda at NATO Parliamentary Assembly autumn session

The NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s autumn session takes place in Montreal, Canada on 22–25 November. Six members of the Riksdag delegation will participate and continued support for Ukraine is at the top of the agenda.

Almost 400 members from the NATO member and partner countries will meet at the annual autumn session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. In addition to continued support for Ukraine, the agenda includes such topics as the security situation in the Arctic, the impact of climate change on society, use of artificial intelligence in the armed forces and security policy developments in the Indo-Pacific region.

The members of the Riksdag will participate in committee meetings and thematic discussions, and will vote on proposals for joint statements and resolutions to be adopted by the Assembly. No binding decisions are taken at the session, but the discussions between parliamentarians from NATO’s 32 member countries play an important role in increasing understanding in the field of security policy, and help to promote transparency in society.
