Visit to the UK by the Speaker, Deputy Speakers and party group leaders

On 28 February–1 March, the Speaker Andreas Norlén made an official visit to London, UK. The delegation included the Second and Third Deputy Speakers, party group leaders and the Secretary-General of the Riksdag.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the already good relations with the UK Parliament and to discuss common and topical issues. The agenda included discussions on bilateral issues, NATO enlargement, the current security situation in the Baltic Sea region and support for Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East and democracy issues.
Included in the programme were meetings with Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Lindsey Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Lords Lord Speaker McFall of Alcluith and representatives of the Defence Committee. The delegation also met the parliamentary friendship association for Sweden, participated in round-table talks with the think tank UK in a Changing Europe and received a briefing on constitutional matters by Professor Meg Russell from University College London. Visits were made to the Duke of Wellington at the historical Apsley House and to the Church of Sweden in London, where the delegation met representatives of the Swedish community.
In addition to the Speaker Andreas Norlén, the delegation included Second Deputy Speaker Julia Kronlid (Sweden Democrats), Third Deputy Speaker Kerstin Lundgren (Centre Party), party group leaders Johan Löfstrand (Social Democratic Party, Deputy Chair), Linda Lindberg (Sweden Democrats), Mattias Karlsson (Moderate Party), Samuel Gonzales Westling (Left Party), Ulrika Heie (Centre Party), Camilla Brodin (Christian Democrats), Rasmus Ling (Green Party) and Lina Nordquist (Liberal Party), as well as Secretary-General of the Riksdag Ingvar Mattson.
