Official visit by the Speaker to Japan

On 5–9 February, the Speaker Andreas Norlén visited Japan together with four members of the Riksdag. The programme included meetings with representatives of the Japanese Parliament.

The Speaker and delegation had meetings with, among others, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Nukaga Fukushiro. Topics of discussion included strengthening of the already good relations between Japan and Sweden, topical international issues such as Russia's aggression against Ukraine, innovation, research and education, and democracy and gender equality. In addition to Tokyo, the delegation also visited Osaka and Kyoto.

Other items on the programme included meetings with Japanese and Swedish business leaders on existing and possible economic collaboration including green transition, and a meeting with the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives. The delegation also visited the site of EXPO 2025 and the University of Tsukuba.

In addition to the Speaker Andreas Norlén, the Swedish delegation included members of the Riksdag Lenna Hallengren (Social Democratic Party), Tobias Andersson (Sweden Democrats), Lili André (Christian Democrats) and Elin Söderberg (Green Party).
