Rights for children and adults in sheltered housing to be strengthened
Published:
The Riksdag has voted in favour of new regulations to improve protection of and support to people who need sheltered housing and to strengthen the children's rights perspective for children accompanied by a guardian who are admitted to sheltered housing.
One of the effects of the amendments is that sheltered housing will be regulated in the Social Services Act. Children accompanied by a guardian who are admitted to sheltered housing schemes will be assessed and approved on an individual basis, and the Social Welfare Committee will be responsible for catering for the children’s needs regarding support and relief measures.
The amendments will come into force on 1 April 2024.
