First Deputy Speaker visits Qatar

The First Deputy Speaker Kenneth G Forslund (Social Democratic Party) visited Qatar on 25–29 November together with a delegation of members of the Riksdag. The purpose of the visit was, inter alia, to discuss current issues and promote a positive image of Sweden through parliamentary contacts.

The First Deputy Speaker met the Speaker of Qatar Hassan bin Abdulla Al-Ghanim and the Deputy Speaker Hamda bint Hassan Al-Sulaiti, Minister of Social Development and Family Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, other representatives of the Qatari Government and members of parliament from the parliaments in the Gulf Cooperation Council. The programme also included meetings with representatives of the Swedish business community, UN agencies, universities and think tanks.

Sweden’s Ambassador in Qatar Gautam Bhattacharyya, Secretary-General of the Riksdag Ingvar Mattson, the First Deputy Speaker Kenneth G Forslund, the Speaker of Qatar Hassan bin Abdulla Al-Ghanim and members of the Riksdag Malcolm Momodou Jallow (Left Party) and Noria Manouchi (Moderate Party) at a meeting in the Parliament of Qatar.

In addition to the First Deputy Speaker, the Swedish delegation included members of the Riksdag Noria Manouchi (Moderate Party) and Malcolm Momodou Jallow (Left Party), as well as Secretary-General of the Riksdag Ingvar Mattson.
