Swedish armed force to be made available for NATO deterrence and defence

The Riksdag has authorised the Government to make a Swedish armed force available up until 31 December 2025. The aim is to contribute to NATO’s collective deterrence and defence of the North Atlantic area.
The armed force will consist of ground units, special forces and amphibious units with a maximum of 1,200 people, a maximum of six warships and associated personnel and a maximum of 24 fighter aircraft and associated personnel.
The Swedish contribution includes ground units to NATO’s multinational brigade in Latvia (FLF Latvia).
