Members of the Riksdag observe elections in Poland

Parliamentary elections were held in Poland on 15 October. Eight members of the Riksdag were present to observe the elections.
Members from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Parliamentary Assembly and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) participated in the election observation mission on 15 October. Their task was to monitor whether the elections were open and conducted correctly, by being present in selected parts of the country on election day.
The members observed the actual election, the sealing of the ballot papers and the counting of the votes in various polling stations. The members of the Riksdag observed the elections in and around the capital Warsaw, Gdansk, Krakow and Wroclaw.
The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, OSCE
Approximately 100 members of parliament from 31 of the OSCE’s participating states took part in the observation mission. The following seven members of parliament from Sweden participated:

- Johan Büser (Social Democratic Party)
- Margareta Cederfelt (Moderate Party)
- Carina Ödebrink (Social Democratic Party)
- Kadir Kasirga (Social Democratic Party)
- Ulrik Nilsson (Moderate Party)
- Yasmine Eriksson (Sweden Democrats)
The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) is an organisation for security policy dialogue and cooperation in Europe. An important task for the organisation is to observe parliamentary and presidential elections in different countries.
The election observation mission is organised in collaboration with ODIHR, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. The ODIHR has observers in the country for a longer period, both before and after the elections.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, PACE
25 members from 18 of the Council of Europe’s member countries participated in the election observation mission on 15 October. The following member of parliament from Sweden participated:
Azadeh Rojhan is one of the Assembly’s two rapporteurs for the mission in Poland. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) works to create common values based on human rights, democracy and the rule of law. As a part of this, members of the Assembly participate in international election observations.
Press conference on 16 October
A press conference was held in Warsaw on 16 October, where a preliminary statement on the election was issued. The statement will be published on the Parliamentary Assembly website.
