A new government took office in Finland following the elections to the Eduskunta – the Finnish Parliament – on 2 April, and Jussi Halla-aho was elected as the new Speaker last week. He paid a visit to the Swedish Parliament on 26 June.

The Speaker Andreas Norlén received Jussi Halla-aho at the Swedish Parliament when he made his first bilateral visit abroad to Sweden according to tradition in his capacity as Finland’s newly elected Speaker. It is also a Swedish tradition in the same way that each newly elected Swedish Speaker should make his or her first bilateral visit abroad to Finland.
