Nordic-Baltic Conference of Speakers at the Riksdag

The annual Nordic-Baltic Conference of Speakers took place at the Riksdag on 24–25 August. The Conference was hosted by the Speaker of the Riksdag Andreas Norlén.

The agenda included discussions about Nordic-Baltic parliamentary cooperation and topical issues in the respective parliaments. Cooperation among the Nordic and Baltic countries was highlighted from various perspectives, including foreign and security policy. The 500th anniversary of the Swedish nation state was also in focus.

In connection with the Conference there was a ceremony at Riksplan at which the Ukrainian flag was hoisted in celebration of Ukraine's Independence Day. The flag ceremony took place in the presence of the Speakers of the Nordic and Baltic parliaments and the Ukrainian Ambassador. 

In connection with the Conference, the Speaker also commemorated Black Ribbon Day at Norrmalmstorg, a European day of memorial for the victims of Stalinism, Nazism and other totalitarian regimes.
