Next step in the formation of a government

Published:

The Speaker Andreas Norlén has today had a meeting with Ulf Kristersson (Moderate Party) to discuss the continued task of exploring the possibilities of forming a government. The next step will be for Ulf Kristersson to submit an interim report to the Speaker on 5 October and a final report will be submitted on 12 October.

The Speaker has met with Ulf Kristersson and following this conferred with the Deputy Speakers who now make up the new presiding officers of the Riksdag, and informed the Head of State.

"I have today received a report on the continued task of exploring the possibilities of forming a government, and have set a time limit for the task as a whole, and have stated a date for an interim report next week. My decision takes into account both how important it is that the process should continue to progress and the time that is required for continued negotiations, based on what Ulf Kristersson has today reported," says Andreas Norlén.

Ulf Kristersson was given the task of exploring the possibilities of forming a government by the Speaker on 19 September. Now that the Riksdag has re-elected Andreas Norlén as Speaker, work on the process of forming a government can continue as before.
