The Speaker’s proposal for Prime Minister

Today, on 14 October, the Speaker Andreas Norlén will propose as his candidate for new Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (Moderate Party), who intends to form a government consisting of representatives of the Moderate Party, the Christian Democrats and the Liberal Party.

“Today, I have had a meeting with Ulf Kristersson, during which he presented his final report from the task of examining the possibilities of forming a government. I will put forward my proposal that Ulf Kristersson should be Prime Minister to the Chamber today,” says the Speaker Andreas Norlén.

On Friday 14 October at 1.30 p.m., the Speaker will present his proposal for Prime Minister to the Chamber. The proposal will also be tabled for the first time then. The second tabling will take place on Saturday 15 October at 11 a.m. and a vote on the Prime Minister will be held on Monday 17 October at 11 a.m.

If Ulf Kristersson is then appointed Prime Minister, he will deliver his Statement of Government Policy, as well as the names of the ministers who will form the Government to the Chamber on Tuesday 18 October at 9.30 a.m. In this case, a Council of State will take place on the same day at 1 p.m.
